A family in Gwinnett County is still awaiting justice for their 16-year-old daughter who was kidnapped and murdered. Susana Morales’s family members are still hoping for a miracle to happen that can change the past and give justice to their beloved daughter. As per the investigation, she was murdered by an ex-Doraville police officer – Miles Bryant. But Why?

Role of Miles Bryant

The family of Susana Morales believes that the police department missed seeing signs that Miles Bryant gave as an individual. He was dangerous and is believed to be the prime suspect in the murder of Susana Morales. It is said that he kidnapped the girl when she was going home, killed her, and later dumped her body.

It is not the first time something like this was reported for Bryant. Many young women had complained previously about Miles stalking and displaying inappropriate behavior. Yet no action was taken against the former police officer of Doraville. Miles Bryant will go on trial this year on the charge of murdering Susana Morales.

What Happened to Susana Morales?

Nobody in Gwinnett County thought the summer of 2022 would be tough on Morales’ family. Their teenage daughter would go missing and only to be found as a dead body months later in the woods. Miles Bryant, who was linked to the case, was arrested in early 2023, when Susana’s naked body was found in the woods. 

Later, the police created a timeline on how Miles would have killed Susana on the night of 26th July 2022 when she was coming home after meeting a friend. The head of the police department stated that although they are unsure of Miles’ exact method of death, they are certain that he killed her.

What Took Place on the Evening of July 26, 2022?

On July 26, 2022, at six o’clock in the evening, Susana left her house on Santa Anna Drive in Norcross to meet a friend who lived nearby. At 9:40 p.m., her mother got a text telling her she was returning from Windscape Village. Miles Bryant, the former police officer, resides there as well. The offender and the victim did not previously have any connections, according to the police.

Her mother is concerned because she has yet to return home at 10:00 p.m. When her mother looked up her whereabouts on the app, it indicated that she was strolling down Singleton Road between 10.07 and 10.21 p.m. Her last known position was on Oak Loch Trace, close to Steve Reynolds Boulevard, between 10.21 and 10.26 p.m. 

The investigators surmise that Susana must have met Bryant and accompanied him in his car somewhere between 10 and 10.30 p.m. They also thought that Susana was slain between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. on July 26, 2022, and her body was discovered in the woods in February 2023.

Current Developments in the Murder Case of Susana Morales

According to the most recent sources, an additional charge of attempted rape has been added to the case, and it is scheduled to go to trial in June 2024. Miles had faced charges for false allegations of a crime, kidnapping, criminal murder, and malice murder in this case. The new elements will be included in the trial starting in June.
