Coss Marte: A Road to Inspiration from Prison!

Who can believe a drug seller can turn into a reputable man after serving his time in prison? If you do not believe it, read about the inspirational story of Coss Marte.

Coss Marte’s Prison Time

Coss Marte was only 23 when he was arrested for selling illegal drugs. The court sentenced him to prison for seven years, where he realized his health was at serious risk. He discovered while inside that he had excessive cholesterol, which can cause a heart attack in around five years.

Marte was suddenly taken back and realized he needed to do something to improve his lifestyle. The first change he made was shifting to a well-balanced diet, according to his body needs. He replaced bread and spaghetti with vegetables and fish. But it was a challenging journey, and Coss has its own share of obstacles.

He started working out in the prison. He started with 5 minutes and felt it was the most difficult job. He even gave up initially and took his time to think and reflect. But in no time, his other inmates motivated him with their fitness and workout regime.

Running around the jail yard, dodging taunts that ranged from “fat Forrest Gump” to “sweet cheeks,” and performing calisthenics in his cell helped him progressively increase his stamina. Marte was able to lose an astounding 70 pounds during the ensuing six months. There, he got the idea of CONBODY.

What is CONBODY?

Coss got the idea of CONBODY while he was serving his prison time. He created a CONBODY routine and exercises and came up with a 90-day program. He was released from prison in 2013, and his project – CONBODY, was up and running by 2016.

CONBODY is a fitness program that focuses on changing the individual’s fitness routine. The 45-minute, body-only workout is geared toward maximum movement in cramped quarters (like a 96-cell). Although the routines are challenging, according to Marte, they are not specifically created for advanced athletes. According to him, you do not have to be a fitness freak to join CONBODY. He later said his 65-year-old mom also takes CONBODY classes four times a week.

Coss Marte – Now

Marte still has a lot of ties to the criminal justice system even though he has completed his sentence. Marte and his colleagues receive several inquiries from prisoners currently serving time regarding employment opportunities after their release.

In reality, Marte has laid out a successful path for ex-offenders to follow in order to get the training they need and the certifications they need to work as personal trainers full-time.

As per him, many people want to join this field after coming out of prison. They are nevertheless also conscious of the fact that their alternatives are limited as a result of the discriminatory issues one must face after exiting the prison system. He is attempting to assist them because of this.
